Biographie
Fanny Terno et Thomas Vauthier développent une pratique collaborative sous le nom de Disconoma depuis 2016. Que l’on pourrait définir comme “au milieu”, à la fois de leurs sensibilités respectives, des cultures (française et japonaise), des médiums (de l’installation à l’image, en passant par la performance). Ensemble, iels explorent le potentiel de l’art comme outil de revitalisation, sociale et environnementale. À cette fin, iels produisent des documentaires (photographiques et sculpturaux), des événements collaboratifs, construisent des dispositifs spatiaux et animent des espaces d’art alternatifs. Iels dévellopent également une praitque discursive au sein de doctorat de recherche par l’art, menés entre la France (Aix-Marseille Université, l’École Nationale de la Photographie d’Arles) et le Japon (Université des Arts de Kyoto, avec le soutient du gouvernement japonais).
Leurs projets ont été exposés à Kyoto (Yokai Soho Gallery, Institut français du Kansai/Kyoto, Tomo Gallery, Villa Kujoyama), à Tokyo (Spiral Art Center, Nakacho no ie, ONA project room, Sumida Mukojima EXPO), et en France (Grand Palais, Galerie Le Huit, La Capela, La Générale, École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d'Arles, Fondation Ricard) ; et discuté dans de nombreuses institutions (Musée Kyocera, Institut national d'histoire de l'art, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Aix-Marseille Université, École nationale supérieure du Mans, Cité internationale des arts).
Biography
Fanny Terno (b.1992, Monaco) and Thomas Vauthier (b.1993, Paris, France) are artists-researchers, working together as a duo since 2016, under the name of « Disconoma ». In their transdisciplinary practice, they explore the potential of art as a tool for ecological and social revitalization. They produce mixed media documentaries, collaborative events, build spatial displays and animate alternative places. They graduated from French art schools (National School of Photography of Arles, Fanny; École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Thomas) and are enrolled in research-creation PhD between France (Aix-Marseille University, National School of Photography of Arles) and Japan (Kyoto City University of the Arts).
They set up experiential situations that attempt to test the potential of a collective making of artistic practice, in the register of inhabitation of exhibition spaces (Sorry, have to live) or in that of the community (Dés-œuvres de jeunesse). Their approach also unfolds around the design of socially engaged situations, whether it is the creation of a participatory canteen (In Vivo, in the National Superior School of Photography in Arles, France), or their involvement in an alternative and rural place, Lizières, a cultural center of residences and socially engaged experiments in France, or the construction of a chashitsu in a depopulated Japanese village (Shashin-an).
Through the use of the photographic medium, they place themselves as witnesses of urbanistic evolutions, documenting cities suffering from the dynamics of devitalization (Onomichi Monogatari) and forms of urban nature, whether they are only decorative (Transfiguration) or, on the contrary, whether they manifest a kind of informal survival (Kyoto Survey).
Their projects have been exhibited in Kyoto (Yokai Soho Gallery, French Institute of Kansai/Kyoto, Tomo Gallery), Tokyo (Spiral Art Center, Nakacho no ie), and in France (Grand Palais, Le Huit Gallery, La Capela, La Générale, École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles, Ricard Foundation); and discussed in many institutions (Kyocera Museum, National Institute of Art History, National Library of France, Aix-Marseille University, École Nationale Supérieure du Mans, Cité Internationale des Arts).
バイオグラフィー
ファニー・テルノ（１９９２年、モナコ生まれ）とトマ・ヴォーティエ（１９９３年、フランス・パリ生まれ）は、アーティスト兼研究者で、２０１６年からデュオとして DISCONOMA（ディスコノマ）の名で活動している。学際的な活動において、彼らはエコロジーと社会活性化のためのツールとしてのアートの可能性を探求している。写真やミクストメディアによるドキュメンタリーの制作、コラボレーション・イベントの開催、空間ディスプレイの構築、オルタナティブ・アート・プレイスの活性化などを行っている。彼らはフランスの美術学校（ファニー：国立アルル写真学校、トマ：国立装飾芸術高等学校）を卒業。そして現在、フランス（エクス・マルセイユ大学、国立写真学校）と日本（京都市立芸術大学）の双方の地で、研究・創作のための博士課程に在籍している。大学交換留学（京都造形、２０１６〜２０１７年）と研究旅行（尾道、京都、２０１９年）を経て、現在は京都で働きながら生活している（２０２２年～)。
彼らのプロセスの中心は、展示スペースの居住とマイクロ・コミュニティの創造を通じた芸術的集団主義の実験にある。そのため、彼らのアプローチは、フランスのオルタナティブで田園的な芸術の場であるリジエール（レジデンスと社会参加型実験の文化センター）への参加や、ドキュメンタリー装置としての日本の過疎の村（写心庵）での茶室／カメラ・オブスクラの建設と上演など、社会参加型の状況をデザインすることを中心に展開される。
彼らのプロジェクトは、京都（妖怪画廊、関西日仏学館、トモギャラリー）、東京（スパイラルアートセンター、仲町の家、ONAプロジェクトスペース、すみだ万博）、フランス（グラン・パレ、ル・ユイギャラリー、ラ・カペラ、ラ・ジェネラル、国立高等写真学院、リカール財団）で展示され、様々な研究機関（京セラミュージアム、国立美術史研究所、フランス国立図書館、エクス・マルセイユ大学、国立マン高等美術学校、国際芸術センター）で議論されている。
